Type Locality and Naming
Along the Sogul River, Southern Fergana. V.V. Kurbatov, E.A. Repman et al., 1971 (254, p. 26). Stratotype Along the Sogul level, S. Fergana.
Synonym: Sogulskaya Formation, Согульская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Conglomerates, gravels, sandstones, siltstones with interlayers of clays and coals. Thickness 230-300m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Lies transgressively on the Paleozoic or upper Kamyshbashin Fm
Upper contact
Conformably overlain by the Samarkandek Fm
Regional extent
Coal mines Shurab, Sulyukta, Lyakan, etc. (S. Fergana). Previously described deposits were included in the Sulyuktin Fm. (165; 339; 367; 382, table 13; 383, table 5, p.2; 446).
